Florence is relatively small, with a population of under 400,000; but return time and again and you still won’t see it all. Stand on bridge over the River Arno several times in a day and the light, mood and view will always vary. The city is like no other. Cradle of the Renaissance and home of Machiavelli, Michelangelo and the Medici, tourists flock here year round to feast on the Florence’s world class art and architecture.
Should you desire, we offer private transfers where a representative will meet you at the airport or train station and transfer you to your hotel. Lunch on Piazza della Repubblica before hitting the Uffizi Gallery and the paintings of Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. We recommend that you purchase one of our optional tours that provide you with essential skip the queue and invaluable guiding services. Stroll down to the Ponte Vecchio which is connected to the Uffizi by the beautifully secretive Vasari Corridor. Spend the evening exploring Oltrarno, the artisan’s neighbourhood filled with wonderful shops and restaurants.
This morning is all about the Piazza del Duomo and Florence’s most iconic landmark with its world famous red-tiled Dome – the Duomo and her marvellous siblings – the Battistero and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. Stroll through the historic streets in the heart of Florence, pausing for a relaxing lunch before entering the world renowned Galleria dell’Accademia, the jewel in its crown being Michelangelo’s David. Take in the sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo before taking a night tour of Palazzo Vecchio – no lines, no crowds, just you and some of the most beautiful paintings in the world.
Visit the Palazzo Pitti home to several splendid museums such as the Palatine Gallery and the Modern Art Gallery, with the impressive Boboli Gardens as its backyard. After lunch stroll Piazza Santa Maria Novella where you can admire the recently renovated square with its beautiful Santa Maria Novella Church. The church`s facade in white and green marble was designed by Leon Battista Alberti while the stunning Tornabuoni Chapel inside has frescoes by Ghirlandaio – a must see!
Additonal Days –
In Piazza San Lorenzo, visit the San Lorenzo Church, the church with its unfinished facade where the Medici family worshipped, and visit the majestic Medici Chapels, final resting place for the Medici dynasty where you`ll find beautiful marble statues by Michelangelo in the New Sacristy.
Take a day trip to Cinque Terre or the Tuscan hill towns (Look through our activities for a number of full day tours to Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, etc)
