The perfect break in Iceland!
This itinerary shows you the highlights of Iceland has to offer, using Reykjavik as a base! Start your tour with a day at leisure and discover Iceland capital Reykjavik a city that combines culture, art and history set in the stunning backdrop of Mt Esja.
Then take in Iceland stunning Golden Circle where you will see the amazing Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs and Thingvellir National Park.
The tour concludes with a day at the Blue Lagoon Spa to relax and unwind!
Explore the world’s most northerly capital. A good start to your Iceland experience. The main tourist sites of Reykjavik are easily visited by foot or by bus. The main landmarks are The Pearl, Hallgrímskirkja church, the National Museum of Iceland, the harbour and the famous 101 Reykjavik neighbourhood. A walking tour can be added as option, if you would prefer to maximize your first day.
Included on day two is a full day tour of the Golden Circel. This excursion includes Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Thingvellir National Park. The Golden Circle Tour give you the opportunity to walk around the world-famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and pools of mud bubble. For many, the highlight of this tour, and indeed their stay in Iceland, is the Gullfoss waterfall. This is sometimes referred to as “the queen of Iceland’s waterfalls”. Finally, but no less spectacular is a visit to the Þingvellir National Park. This is the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. The Great Atlantic rift is clearly visible, a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates.
The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most popular attractions, a natural geothermal pool in the middle of a large and dramatic lava field and an oasis that owes its existence to a nearby geothermal power plant, looming large over the aqua tinted waters.
We stop for a refreshing bathe or a swim in the inviting, rejuvenating and pleasantly warm mineral-rich water (37°C-39°C/98-102°F), reputed for its healing properties. An indoor pool and geothermal sauna are also on the site. Bathing in this surreal environment is a unique experience no one should miss. The Blue Lagoon’s warm water and natural active ingredients like mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life.
Your short break has come to an end and it is time to return home after a wonderful experience in Iceland. If flight time permit spend the morning in Reykjavik grab breakfast in one of the many fantastic cafes before your departure.
